Altech - Ceramic glass
The ceramic glass used by Altech in our stoves and fireplaces to give you a lasting clear view of the flames is designed for extreme circumstances. It can stand a heat shock of cold water, while being heated with a 800 °C pointed flame.
For most people, being able to see and enjoy the flames is major reason to buy a wood burning fireplace. Of course it is ! It is the oldest TV-program on this planet and still enjoyed by all generations.
So we have done our best to keep the ceramic glass free from stains and sooth deposits that might disturb your view of the dancing flames. First of, because of the heat-storing capacity of soapstone, temperatures inside your Altech stove are much higher than usually encountered in stoves. Which means that if deposits are formed, they will get burned right off again.

Of course, preventing any deposits on the ceramic glass has been one of the first objectives when developing the Altech stoves. This mainly happens by letting part of the air needed for burning blow against the glass prior to entering the fire. This cleaning air comes both from top and bottom. In practice, deposits on the glass of Altech stoves usually means insufficient draft, moist wood or wood logs that have been lying too close to the glass.
